Why did October MRR dip?

mrr-movements-oct.csv
Why did October MRR dip compared to September? Use the export I attached.

October MRR closed at $284,120, down $3,410 (−1.2%) from September. New business was healthy — the dip comes from two places:

  1. Contraction at Tidewater — they dropped from 60 to 45 seats on Oct 3, which alone accounts for −$2,160.
  2. Failed payments — 7 accounts moved to past_due after the card-updater batch failed on Oct 1, worth −$2,870.

Here’s the query I used, so you can rerun it in the warehouse:

select movement_type,
       sum(mrr_delta) as delta
from billing.mrr_movements
where month = '2026-10'
group by 1
order by 2;
MovementAccountsMRR delta
New14+$4,980
Expansion9+$1,640
Contraction4−$3,120
Churn6−$4,040
Delinquent7−$2,870

Recovering the past-due accounts would turn October positive. Want me to draft a dunning email for those seven customers?
