Licence
Free components are MIT. Pro is a per-seat licence for unlimited end products, including client work.
This page summarises the terms in plain words. The full licence text is at craftwork.design/license and is what applies if the two ever differ.
Free — MIT
Everything on the public @blank registry — primitives, free animations, the
theme and the free blocks — is released under the MIT licence. Use it in any
project, commercial or not, modify it, and redistribute it, as long as the
copyright notice stays with the source.
Pro — per seat
A Blank Pro licence covers the components and blocks on the private
@blank-pro registry.
| Seats | One licence per person who installs or edits Pro source. A Team licence covers up to 10 people under one key. |
| Projects | Unlimited. Use Pro in as many end products as you like. |
| Client work | Allowed. Build sites and apps for clients and hand them the finished product, Pro code included. |
| Updates | Lifetime updates for Blank 3, through the same registry. |
What you can do
- Ship Pro components and blocks inside websites, web apps, mobile apps and internal tools — yours or your clients'.
- Modify the source however you need.
- Keep the code in a private repository your team and CI can read.
What you can't do
- Redistribute or resell Pro source on its own, or as part of a UI kit, template, theme, starter or component library — free or paid.
- Publish Pro source in a public repository or package.
- Build a product that competes with Blank, such as a component registry or page builder that ships Pro items to its users.
- Share one seat between several people, or publish your licence key.
An end product is something your users use, not something developers build with. A marketing site that contains a Pro hero is fine; a template of that site sold to other designers is not.
Platforms
The Figma, Framer and Webflow editions of Blank are licensed separately under the Craftwork licence that came with them.
